IT'S OUR 12TH
"ANNIVERSARY"
2014
To our Dear Friends and Family:
December 27, 2002. That day was our introduction to the
world of Type 1 diabetes. It has been almost 12 years since then, and
we've learned more than we ever wanted to know about this disease. And
our daughter Jess, who turned 22 this summer, has spent more than half of her
life dealing with Type 1.
But it's been a great 12 years
overall. Jess graduated in May from Boston College and is now enjoying
the environs of northwest Ohio working on her Master's in Higher Education at
Bowling Green State University.
JDRF has led the way in funding
research to enable people with Type 1 to live life to the fullest.
Last year, JDRF expanded its research goals to be more patient
focused: to cure, treat and prevent Type 1 diabetes. While their
highest priority is still to find a cure, they also focus on funding better
ways to treat the disease, allowing people to live better, healthier lives
while awaiting a cure. With the pending introduction of the Artificial
Pancreas, JDRF will make it possible for people on insulin to manage their
diabetes as close to normal as possible.
During the last 12 years, you may
have received letters or emails from us regarding Jessica's J-Walkers, our
family's vehicle for helping to raise money for diabetes research.
Whether you've participated in the past or not, we'd love to have your support this year- thanks to you all! These
donations are for the annual JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. Please check
with your employer about matching funds.
We will be walking at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl on November 15, 2014.

You can also mail a check, made
payable to JDRF, if that's easier; we'll send you the address:

Thank you for your Support
