SEPTEMBER 2010
To our friends and family:
Its also been almost 8 years since our daughter Jessica was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. She has been very fortunate to have lived a very healthy and rewarding life since her diagnosis. This is our 8th year of raising money for JDRF and their efforts to find a cure for diabetes. With the support of our family and friends, we’ve raised almost $350,000 for this great cause.
However, this year’s walk will be a little different for Jessica’s J-Walkers. Our captain, inspiration and reason for existence has just begun the next stage of her life as a freshman at Boston College. After Paul and Jessica drove cross country on an unforgettable 7 day vacation, we all spent time with family in NJ and then almost a week in Boston . (This picture is Jess leaving home for the trip.) She will now be in total control of her disease without Mom & Dad looking over her shoulder.
And as Jessica begins anew at BC, so will Jessica’s J-Walkers. Therefore, we introduce you to our first VIRTUAL Walk to Cure Diabetes. Janice and Paul will be among the 15,000 folks gathered at Dodger Stadium on Sunday November 7, 2010, but we are not mounting a team of supporters with colorful T-shirts this year. Although Jessica has moved onto college, we still must fight to find a cure. And in our case, the fight means raising money.
We choose to support JDRF. They are at the forefront of numerous cure therapies and leaders in the ARTIFICIAL PANCREAS PROJECT which is one of the most exciting developments in years. JDRF is our best hope for finding a cure. It funds more type 1 diabetes research than any other charity worldwide (2nd only to the US Government) and it’s making progress along many promising paths toward better treatments and a cure.
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality! We ask for your donation, of any amount, to help further the cause of JDRF and diabetes research.
